Purpose

In addition to Qorokwe’s commitment to a light carbon footprint, including 100% solar-generated power, this camp plays an important role in the empowerment of local communities through job creation and other income-generating opportunities. Qorokwe promotes the recovery of an area previously used for hunting, and demonstrates the importance of ecotourism in more peripheral concessions.

Wildlife

The Qorokwe Concession comprises various biomes, from scattered acacia woodland with herds of giraffe, zebra and various plains game to pristine floodplains, home to curious red lechwe and mud-encrusted buffalo bulls, whence the name Qorokwe is derived: “The place where the buffalo broke through the bush into the water.” Besides the local 15-member lion pride, elephant are a feature of this classic Okavango Delta setting.
